Bart & Rorie Russell

Bart and Rorie Russell are the “proprietors” of the Discover Small Town America Tour series. They’re both big small town boosters and road trip junkies. Bart is a leading authority on the Nation’s 34,000 small towns and their 140 million residents. President Reagan called him “the voice of small town America”. Rorie loves to search the countryside for special people and places. Her discovery and promotion of Jose’s Real Cuban Food in Bradenton, FL won Jose Baserva and his “joint” a spot on The Food Network’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives”.

  1. Would love to have you visit Atwood, KS just 30 miles north of I70.

  2. I would like to invite you to stop by North East, MD on your road trip. We have the distinction of being the northern most town on the Chesapeake Bay. Woody’s Crab House is the premier seafood restaurant in our area. They were established in 1993 and last year sold their 2,000,000th crab cake. Being a water oriented town, we have marinas, great restaurants, great shops and great people. Hope we see you in North East…it’s not just a direction, it’s a destination.

    • Hi Carolyn,
Thank you for your suggestion to visit North East, MD. If you scroll through our blog site you’ll see we have recently visited your great small town and also had a terrific meal at Woody’s. We agree with you that North East is definitely a terrific destination for anyone who loves experiencing everything a small town like yours has to offer.

  3. Hello There
Loved the blog about Pine Island, but Matlacha Island is so different from Pine Island, Florida. Pine Island is more rural where Matlacha Island is the funky little artist community that co-exists with fishermen. Hope you come back again someday.

  4. We agree with you Leoma and tried to convey that distinction in our post. Matlacha Island is a great and, yes, very funky place. We’ll be back! Hope we get to meet you when next we’re at your incredible shop.
