In preparation for the Discover Small Town America Tour, and our commitment to experience BBQ throughout our journey, we “trained” at the BBQ festival held in the Big Apple this weekend. Big city event but small town pit masters showcasing their craft. Smokey brisket from Texas, fall-off-the-bone ribs from Tennessee, tangy pulled pork from North Carolina and spicy grilled sausage from South Carolina. A feast for all our senses. Can’t wait to get on the road and experience America’s favorite local BBQ joints.
There is a Swinetastic BBQ Festival in Frederick, MD this coming weekend Friday June 14, 4-10 pm and Saturday, June 15 11 am – 7 pm if anyone is interested. It will be held at the Frederick Fair Grounds.
Darn…we’re coming through the Frederick area next Tuesday (6/18). Sorry we’ll miss “Swinetastic”. Let us know what kind of BBQ sauce is used in MD and tell us which kind of “Q” was the most popular (pulled pork, baby back ribs, smoked brisket, etc.). Thanks Donna!
These posts are making me hungry! I may need to schedule my own BBQ tasting tour!
Linda you can start right in Sarasota by tracking down Perry’s BBQ. He’s usually at the Philippi Creek Farmers Market and he knows how to do brisket right!
We would love to have you check out our Smokin on the Beaver BBQ contest last weekend in September. We are only 30 miles north of I70.
Please email me and I will fill you in.
Thanks so much Sandy for your warm and generous invitation. The 2013 Tour runs from mid-June through early August, at which point we’ll be back on the east coast. Maybe we can schedule Atwood and the BBQ contest for 2014 Tour. Cheers, Bart & Rorie
That would be great. Any chance you could come through Atwood this year at another time?
Although we won’t be able to make it to Atwood this trip, we have added it to our list for future Discover Small Town America tours.
Thats awesome!!! Thanks so much. Can’t wait to follow all of your adventures.
